DO280 – Red Hat OpenShift Administration II: Configuring a Production Cluster

Course Description 

The Red Hat OpenShift Administration II: Configuring a Production Cluster (DO280) course prepares OpenShift cluster administrators to perform daily administration tasks on clusters that host applications from internal teams and external vendors, enable self-service for cluster users with different roles, and deploy applications that require special permissions such as CI/CD tools, performance monitoring, and security scanners. This course focuses on configuring multitenancy and security features of OpenShift as well as managing OpenShift add-ons based on operators.

The skills that you learn in this course can be applied by using any versions of OpenShift, including OpenShift Container Platform, Red Hat OpenShift on AWS (ROSA), and Azure Red Hat OpenShift.

This course is based on Red Hat® OpenShift® Container Platform 4.22.

Business Outcome 

Organizations that share OpenShift clusters across multiple teams risk operational bottlenecks when platform engineers cannot safely delegate self-service access. Organizations also risk security exposure when privileged infrastructure applications, such as CI/CD tools, monitoring, 

and security scanners are not correctly isolated from business workloads. This course prepares administrators to configure the multitenancy guardrails, security policies, declarative deployment workflows, and advanced networking capabilities that enable teams to operate  independently at speed and to keep shared clusters secure, reproducible, and production-ready.

 Student Outcome 

After completing this course, students can configure multitenant Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform clusters by managing authentication, authorization, resource quotas, and security policies for multiple teams. Students can also deploy applications by using declarative workflows, secure network traffic, expose non-HTTP services, install and manage operators, and update clusters.

Recommended Preparation

• The Red Hat OpenShift Administration I: Operating a Production Cluster (DO180 v4.22) course, or equivalent skills in deploying and managing Kubernetes applications by using the OpenShift web console and command-line interfaces.
• Intermediate skills in operating a Bash shell, including command-line text processing, text editing, and Linux networking and security utilities. Students are encouraged to take the Red Hat System Administration I (RH124) course before enrolling in DO280.
